India’s Finance Minister presented the Union Budget for the Financial Years 2025-26 last week. In addition to a number of tax incentives, about which you can read here, she laid out a few markers for what the Government will focus on in the new Financial Year.

• Committee to review all non-financial sector regulations, certifications, licenses, and permissions.
• Amendments to the Atomic Energy Act and the Civil Liability Act for enabling private participation.
• ‘National Geospatial Mission’ launched to develop foundational geospatial infrastructure and data. 
• Over 100 new places to get regional airports in next 10 years.
• Fast-track mergers between companies without a court driven process to be made simpler.
